Candidates willing to commute and work out of our downtown Phoenix, AZ office (3-day/week hybrid schedule) are preferred, though we are accepting resumes from candidates working remotely throughout the US.
Position Summary
As the General Manager of Payments, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the payments experience for our nonprofit customers while driving payments revenue for Virtuous. Your primary objective will be to increase the attach rate of our online donation software while optimizing payments volume and profitability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform our product roadmap, negotiate agreements with payment providers, and implement strategies to optimize positive payments outcomes.
Responsibilities
Payment Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive payments strategy aimed at increasing the attach rate of our online donation software and maximizing payments volume and profitability.
Product Roadmap: Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to inform the product roadmap, ensuring that payment solutions align with customer needs and market trends.
Partnership Development: Identify, negotiate, and manage agreements with payment providers to enhance our service offerings and optimize transaction rates.
Data Analysis: Analyze payment data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and to drive actionable insights that enhance payment processing efficiency and profitability.
Customer Engagement: Work closely with nonprofit customers and Customer Success team to understand their payment needs and challenges, and develop solutions that address these issues while enhancing their fundraising capabilities.
Sales Enablement: Build internal skills and knowledge within our sales and marketing functions to ensure we are maximizing payments-related conversations through all stages of the customer journey..
Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of payment initiatives and continuously optimize strategies based on data-driven insights.
Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies in the nonprofit payments and online giving space to ensure Virtuous remains at the forefront of nonprofit payment solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, sales, and customer success teams to promote payment solutions and drive adoption among existing and prospective customers.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in payments, fintech, or a related role, with a proven track record in SaaS environments.
Strong understanding of online payment processing, payment gateways, and the nonprofit fundraising ecosystem.
Experience negotiating agreements with payment providers and optimizing transaction rates.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives to completion.
Experience leading and mentoring teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
